Deal-Ready: What to Prepare Before You Sell Your モデルカーs (Near You)

Selling should feel smooth and professional—whether you meet at a local hobby store or ship to a コレクター abroad. Use this step-by-step prep to earn trust, justify your price, and close faster.


🧭 1) Define the item clearly

List the brand / product line / scale / item number / car model / colorway. Example: AUTOart | Composite | 1:18 | #78801 | Nissan GT-R (R35) Pearl ホワイト. Clear IDs help buyers verify specs and avoid “is this the same version?” back-and-forth.


🧼 2) Grade the condition (be brutally honest)

Create a simple, shared language:

 

  • A / MIB: Mint in box, seals intact.

  • A-: Opened carefully, display-only, no flaws.

  • B: Minor paint rash/light shelf-wear; box scuffs.

  • C: Noticeable defects/missing small parts.

    Note every flaw (micro paint chip, loose hinge, yellowed tire). Honesty raises confidence—and price.

 


🧩 3) Audit completeness

Check tray, screws, plinth/base, acrylic cover, COA/limited card, spare mirrors, antenna, tool, decals, and all protective films. Photograph the accessory tray and certificate—these images sell the story of completeness.


🔍 4) Confirm version & rarity

Record details buyers care about: limited run size, chase/“raw” editions, special livery, discontinued molds, or first-tool releases. Photograph baseplate engravings and the limited number if present; this is provenance a scammer can’t fake.


🧾 5) Prepare provenance & ownership proof

Keep receipt screenshots, order emails, or a quick spreadsheet (date, source, price). Add a short note on storage conditions (smoke-free, sunlight-protected). This lowers risk in the buyer’s mind and speeds payment decisions.


📸 6) Shoot a 12-photo set buyers trust

 

  • Front, rear, two 3/4 angles, side profile, interior/glass, undercarriage/baseplate, wheels/brakes macro, engine/doors/boot open (if applicable), all flaws, all accessories, the box + label.

  • Neutral background, even light, no heavy filters.

  • Include a ruler or tape in one shot to anchor scale.

 


💸 7) Build a pricing logic—not just a number

Research SOLD (not listed) comps. Note condition + completeness + version adjustments and local vs. shipped differences. Set three prices:

 

  • Aspirational (if multiple buyers bite)

  • Target (your real aim)

  • Walk-away (below this, you keep it)

    Share your reasoning briefly; serious buyers respect data.

 


🧳 8) Pre-pack for inspection & transport

Have soft gloves, microfiber, silica gel, zip bags for small parts, bubble + foam, double-box for shipping, and a small toolkit (screwdriver for plinth screws). For meet-ups, bring a clean cloth—a spotless presentation can add 5–10% perceived value.


🤝 9) Plan the deal mechanics in advance

Decide where (public, camera coverage), how you’ll be paid (cash, bank transfer, platform escrow), and what you’ll sign (a simple one-page bill of sale: item ID, price, “as-is” condition noted, date, names). Have a small LED to let buyers inspect paint and panel gaps.


🛡️ 10) Safety & fraud checklist

No deposits to strangers; verify high-value transfers before handing over the model; for shipping, insure and use tracked service; write the box contents generically (“scale model, plastic/metal toy”) to reduce theft temptation; photograph packing stages for protection.

Pre-order deposits are non-refundable. Sale items are non-returnable. Confirmed collector model cars are not eligible for change-of-mind returns once delivered without damage, defect, or shipping error.

For collector model cars, shipping-damage claims require a complete unboxing video starting before the outer shipping carton is opened. The video must continuously show the unopened parcel, shipping label, packaging materials, product box, and model condition until any damage is clearly visible.

If confirmed shipping damage occurs, we will provide a free replacement when the same item is in stock. If the same item is out of stock, we will issue a full refund to the original payment method.
