Model Cars Size Guide

This page explains what are different sizes / scales for model cars.

When we talk about a "scale model," we mean a small or miniature version of a vehicle.

The term "scale" refers to the relationship between the size of the model and the size of the vehicle it represents. Specifically, the scale of a model is the ratio between the size of the model and the size of the real object.

For example, if a model of a car has a scale of 1:18, it means that every inch or centimeter of the model represents 18 inches or centimeters of the real car. So if the real car is 9 feet long, the model would be 6 inches long.

Typically 6.5-8 inches / 16-21 cm

1/18 = 18x smaller than a real vehicle
Typically 9-12 inches / 24-30 cm
 

*Please note that some manufacturers are more exact on the scale their models represent while others can be a little more loose. For example, a 1:64 scale car from Company A can be slightly bigger or smaller than Company B. Each company has their own way to manufacture model cars and some can be more precise than others.
